Blue Chair Fruit Company

I discovered Blue Chair Jams at a little cafe in Berkeley called the Summer Kitchen Bakeshop. Rachel Saunders, the owner of the company, was there do a jam making demonstration and to sign her book. I love her book (the Blue Chair Jam Cookbook) mostly because it is gorgeous. The pictures are luscious and make you crave fruit. Saunders goes through the basics of jam making to give her readers a foundation in the craft. Then she goes on to provide interesting jam recipes. While I was living at Berkeley, I ate my way through several Blue ChairĀ flavors. They are all delicious, but I am particularly fond of the Strawberry Blood Orange flavor.
Kou Cuisine

When I was in the village of Ubud in Bali earlier this year, I fell in love with a small jam boutique on Monkey Forest Road called Kou Cuisine. They sell little bottles of locally produced jam made from exotic local Balinese fruit. Among the flavors on sale when I was in town were: Pineapple & Guava, Mango, Strawberry & Banana, and Passion Fruit & Tangerine. The aesthetic of the store was clean and minimalistic with white walls and colorful bottles of jam.
